Teacher, Speaker & Author

Iona is a lay minister for the Anglican Church in Australia. Prior to writing her book Iona was the Coordinator of the Global Sustainability Network (GSN), an inter faith led organisation relating to anti-slavery and the United Nations Sustainability Development Goal 8. She has organised high profile events at Lambeth Palace, the Vatican, Westminster Abbey and most recently the United Nations New York. Iona has previously worked in public relations and communications, which led her into photojournalism where she worked for Dubai’s Central Military Command and other international organisations/publications.

International Athlete

In her sporting career Iona represented Great Britain in Speed Skiing and holds the titles of Ladies British Overseas Champion and New Zealand Ladies Champion, sponsored by Smirnoff and Alfa Romeo cars. Her top speed was 160kmp. After a life threatening speed skiing accident in the World Championship qualifiers, Iona moved into training and competing in horse racing (endurance). Here she successfully represented Ireland for several years and competed in the World Championships, World Equestrian Games and the European Championships. In addition Iona produced and presented a video “Learn to Ski the Fast way” for Virgin Videos and worked as a freelance television sports presenter.

 
 
 

Racing On Empty

Iona lives to compete. She represented Great Britain in speed skiing and rode on the Irish Equestrian Team. Driven by a desire to find herself, a rebellious and slightly wild Iona harnessed her sporting abilities to find purpose, hope and meaning.
